This Privacy Policy explains how Truth Investigations (Cryptico Consulting Pty Ltd), ABN 81 161 852 704 (“Truth Investigations”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy is governed by the laws of New South Wales.

1. The information we collect

Depending on how you engage us, we may collect:

• Your identity and contact details, including name, company or firm, email, phone and postal address;
• Information about the matter and, where relevant, about a third party who is the subject of an investigation (which may include identifying details, location information, vehicle and workplace details, and other particulars you provide);
• Documents and files you upload, such as photographs, screenshots and court documents;
• Payment information, processed by our payment provider (Stripe); we do not store full card details;
• Declarations you make at intake, including disclosures about court orders and your acceptance of our terms;
• Technical and usage data collected via our website, including cookies, analytics and marketing identifiers.

2. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you through our website forms, by phone, by email and in the course of providing our services. In conducting investigations we may also lawfully collect information about a subject from public and lawful sources.

3. Why we collect and use it

• To assess, scope and conduct the investigation or service you request;
• To maintain our client and matter records;
• To communicate with you and provide reports and findings;
• To process payments and issue invoices;
• To meet our legal, regulatory and licensing obligations; and

Some information we handle may be sensitive. We collect and use such information only where it is reasonably necessary for our functions, where you have provided it to us for the matter, or where we are otherwise permitted or required by law.

• Our personnel and licensed investigators working on your matter;
• Sub-contractors and agents we engage to assist (who are bound by confidentiality obligations);
• Our professional advisers, and our CRM and payment service providers (including HubSpot and Stripe) acting as our processors;
• Courts, tribunals, law enforcement or regulators where required or authorised by law; and
• Other parties with your consent.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers and contractors may be located, or store data, outside Australia. Where we disclose information overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.

7. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We retain information for as long as necessary for the purposes described, to meet our legal obligations and to resolve disputes, after which we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

8. Access and correction

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by contacting us on 1800 878 847. We will respond within a reasonable period. In limited circumstances we may decline access as permitted by law and will explain why.

9. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and analytics and marketing tools (including Google Tag Manager and HubSpot tracking) to understand site usage and improve our services. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
